I recently purchased some beautiful Swedish linen from Bockens Lingarn as I wanted some experience in handling linen -- which is quite a different feel from cotton as it turns out. Cotton thread feels so much more clingy and it "blooms" when washed, expanding gently into the small gaps between the threads. But linen has a papery-dry feel, the threads slippery through the fingers. Also, I was hoping to learn more about how to use color as I am pretty much clueless when it comes to anticipating which colors will blend, or pop out, or suddenly make something delicate look heavy or smooth together into a harmonious whole. Yeah, I know that's probably asking too much from any humble dish cloth.
Still here's the first pass with a white weft -- the second cloth will have a green weft and the third, the rusty brown weft. Looking forward to seeing how they all turn out.
