Here is a lovely pair of vintage knitting spools that belonged to my mother when she was a child. I learned many years ago how to knit a long cord with it -- though I shall to avail myself of every friendly you-tube videos to relearn the skill. I am tempted to ask my artist-son-in-law to do a little restoration painting on them and bring them back to their full glory. I would then teach my daughter and granddaughter the technique.
There is something very special about not letting go of very old fiber skills. Tatting is next on my list as I have also inherited a beautiful and ornate tatting shuttle from my great grand mothers.
